Site Permissions
Control what websites can access on your device - location, camera, microphone, and more.
Overview
When websites request access to sensitive device features, Stealth Browse asks for your permission. You can manage these permissions at any time through Site Permissions settings.
Permission Types
Location
- Purpose: Maps, local search, weather
- Risk: Can reveal your physical location
- Recommendation: Allow only for trusted sites
Camera
- Purpose: Video calls, photo uploads, QR scanning
- Risk: Sites could capture images without your knowledge
- Recommendation: Allow only when actively using video features
Microphone
- Purpose: Voice calls, voice input, audio recording
- Risk: Could record conversations
- Recommendation: Allow only for communication apps
Notifications
- Purpose: Push notifications from websites
- Risk: Spam, promotional messages
- Recommendation: Be selective - most sites abuse this
Clipboard
- Purpose: Read/write to clipboard
- Risk: Could access copied passwords or data
- Recommendation: Allow only for productivity tools
Sensors
- Purpose: Motion sensors for games, VR
- Risk: Can fingerprint your device
- Recommendation: Deny unless needed
Pop-ups
- Purpose: Open new windows/tabs
- Risk: Ads, phishing attempts
- Recommendation: Block by default (enabled by default)
Managing Permissions
Per-Site Settings
- Go to Settings → Privacy → Site Permissions
- View list of sites with granted permissions
- Tap a site to see/change its permissions
- Toggle individual permissions on/off
- Or remove all permissions for a site
Global Defaults
Set default behavior for permission requests:
- Ask: Prompt each time (default)
- Allow: Automatically grant (not recommended)
- Block: Automatically deny
Permission Indicators
When a site is using a permission, you'll see indicators:
- Camera: Green dot in status bar
- Microphone: Orange dot in status bar
- Location: Location icon in URL bar
Best Practices
- Review permissions regularly and revoke unused ones
- Be suspicious of permission requests that don't match site functionality
- Block notifications by default - legitimate sites don't need them
- Grant location only when needed - not all map requests require it
- Revoke permissions after use for one-time needs
