Stealth Drive Recovery
Stealth Drive Recovery undeletes files and recovers data from formatted, corrupted, or RAW drives on Windows. It scans raw disk sectors, reconstructs files by signature, and writes recovered files to a safe target folder.
Opening Stealth Drive Recovery
Open from Settings → Tools → Stealth Drive Recovery. The window opens with a drive selector, scan mode picker, and a results pane that fills as the scan progresses.
Scan Modes
Quick scan. Reads the drive's filesystem journal to find recently deleted files. Fast (seconds to a few minutes) and works well right after an accidental delete.
Deep scan. Full raw-sector scan that reconstructs files from disk signatures even when the filesystem is missing or formatted. Slower (minutes to hours depending on drive size) but recovers far more.
RAW recovery. Dedicated recovery for drives that show up as RAW in Disk Management because the partition table is damaged.
Supported File Types
Drive Recovery recognizes hundreds of file signatures including:
- Documents. DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, ODT, RTF, TXT
- Images. JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, RAW camera formats
- Video. MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WMV, WEBM
- Audio. MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG
- Archives. ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ
- Email. PST, OST, EML, MBOX
- Code. JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, HTML, CSS, JSON
Filter the results pane by category to narrow down what you are looking for.
Preview and Recover
Preview. Click any image, document, or video result to see a thumbnail before recovering.
Recoverability indicator. Each result is tagged Excellent, Good, Partial, or Damaged so you know what to expect.
Bulk select. Check multiple files and recover them all in one click.
Safe target folder. Recovered files are written to a folder you choose, ideally on a different drive to avoid overwriting other recoverable data.
Best Practices
- Recover to a different physical drive than the one you are scanning
- Use Quick scan first; only run Deep scan if Quick does not find what you need
- Recovery odds are highest within hours of deletion; less likely after weeks of heavy use
- SSDs with TRIM enabled may have already wiped deleted blocks; HDDs and external drives are more recoverable
Settings
| Default recovery folder | Where recovered files land when no per-scan override is set |
| Scan caching | Cache scan results to disk so resuming or refining filters is instant |
| File signature library | Enable or disable specific file type signatures to speed up scans |
| Verify after recovery | Hash recovered files and verify they are not corrupt |
