Stealth Drivers

Stealth Drivers scans your system for outdated drivers and helps you update them safely. Keeping drivers current improves hardware performance, fixes bugs, and resolves compatibility issues with newer software.

Why Drivers Matter

Drivers are software that enables Windows to communicate with your hardware like graphics cards, network adapters, audio devices, and more. Outdated drivers can cause:

Performance problems. Old graphics drivers may not support game optimizations. Network drivers may not utilize your adapter's full speed.

Stability issues. Driver bugs cause crashes, blue screens, and system freezes. Updates often include critical fixes.

Security vulnerabilities. Some driver updates patch security flaws that could be exploited by malware.

Compatibility failures. New software may require newer driver versions to function correctly.

Scanning for Updates

Open Stealth Drivers from Settings → Tools
Click Scan System
Wait for the scan to complete (examines all hardware devices)
Review the list of outdated drivers found

The scan compares your installed driver versions against the latest available versions. Devices with updates available are highlighted.

Understanding Results

For each outdated driver, you'll see:

Device	Hardware component name
Current version	What's installed now
Latest version	Newest available driver
Age	How old your current driver is
Priority	Critical, recommended, or optional

Installing Updates

You can update drivers individually or all at once:

Individual updates: Click the update button next to a specific driver. Useful when you want to update only certain devices.

Update all: Click Update All to download and install all available updates. More convenient but takes longer.

Stealth downloads drivers from official sources and manufacturer websites. Each driver is verified before installation.

Restart required: Some driver updates require a system restart. Stealth will notify you when this is necessary. You can postpone until convenient.

Backup and Restore

Before updating drivers, Stealth can create a backup of your current drivers. If an update causes problems, you can restore the previous version:

Enable Create Backup before updating
If problems occur, open Stealth Drivers
Go to the Backup tab
Select the driver backup to restore
Click Restore

Backups are stored locally and don't consume cloud storage.

Selective Updates

Not every driver update is necessary. Consider:

If it's working, be cautious. Critical hardware like network adapters and graphics cards should be updated. Obscure devices that work fine may not need updates.

Priority matters. Focus on "Critical" and "Recommended" updates. "Optional" updates are less important.

Read release notes. Check what an update fixes. If it addresses issues you don't have, skipping is reasonable.

Stealth Drivers integrates with SDIO (Snappy Driver Installer Origin), a powerful open-source driver tool. For advanced users:

Access detailed driver information
Choose from multiple driver versions
Install drivers for offline systems
Create comprehensive driver backups

Access SDIO features through the Advanced tab in Stealth Drivers.

Best Practices

Scan regularly. Check for driver updates monthly, or after Windows updates which sometimes affect drivers.

Prioritize graphics and network. These drivers have the biggest impact on performance and stability.

Keep backups. Always backup before updating, especially for critical hardware.

Update one at a time. When troubleshooting, update drivers individually to identify which caused issues.
